Location: Belfast, Northern Ireland
Background:
Titanic Belfast enables visitors to re-live the Titanic story, from her birth in Belfast to the fateful maiden voyage and eventual discovery on the seabed. The museum is expected to attract 425,000 visitors annually and opened on 31 March 2012. This new high profile tourist attraction wanted to be safeguarded against the threat of terrorism.
Project details:
Townscape supplied 47 PAS 68 Counter Terror Blocks to protect Northern Ireland’s newest visitor attraction. The Titanic Counter Terror Blocks were made from a charcoal coloured aggregate which was sympathetic to the fabric of the building itself and contributes aesthetically to the destination overall. Townscape Products were also able to incorporate visitor seating in a nautical theme into each block, giving them a practical use for visitors on top of enhanced perimeter security.
Result:
The Titanic Belfast building now has secure perimeter protection, plus attractive seating for visitors thanks to Townscape Products.
